As our Trust Director of HSC, Maintenance & Cleaning, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring our schools are safe, compliant, and welcoming spaces. You’ll lead on health and safety, site maintenance, cleaning standards, and procurement—driving excellence across all Trust premises.

Key Responsibilities

  • Health & Safety Compliance: Ensure all sites meet statutory requirements and safeguarding standards, including oversight of risk assessments, audits, and training.
  • Maintenance & Refurbishment: Lead a five-year rolling programme of site improvements, from internal fittings to external landscaping.
  • Cleaning Standards: Establish and monitor high standards of cleanliness across all schools, ensuring environments are healthy and respectful.
  • Procurement: Drive value and efficiency through strategic procurement of resources, equipment, and facilities.
  • Leadership: Build and manage a centralised Trust site team, redefining roles and ensuring effective training, supervision, and performance management.
  • Technology & Project Management: Use digital tools to manage projects, track progress, and communicate effectively across the Trust.

What We’re Looking For

  • Proven experience in facilities, estates, or compliance management—ideally within an education or public sector setting.
  • Strong knowledge of health & safety legislation, safeguarding, and risk management.
  • Excellent leadership and project management skills, with the ability to drive improvement across multiple sites.
  • A proactive, solutions-focused mindset with a commitment to high standards and continuous improvement.
  • Willingness to travel across the region and work flexibly to meet the needs of the Trust.

Requirements

  • Health and Safety Qualification, e.g. NEBOSH, IOSH Managing Safely
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a similar role
  • Proven experience of creating and maintain Health and Safety practices
  • Proven experience of reviewing method statements, risk assessments and safe methods of working
