Mr Foster Trust in a team of seasoned teaching professionals

I’ve always wanted to be a teacher, but life appeared to have dealt me another hand. To see that moment in the child’s eye when they finally get something that they have been struggling with all afternoon is more than enough reward for the job. I first looked into doing my PGCE with Wonder when I realised they gave me a chance to be able to balance a part time job around my placement but more importantly they got me into the classroom sooner than I would have done if I was doing a university centred PGCE. I’ve been placed in a local school in my local area meaning I don’t have to far to travel to get to my placement, but it also means I get to train to be a teacher in the area I’m looking to start my career in. During my first placement I have enjoyed teaching science the most with my key stage one children as it allowed them to investigate different materials and choose which one would be the best material to use to make a curtain from ensuring it was opaque and could be easily opened and close like a curtain is every day. I would recommend anyone looking to do a PGCE to seriously look at doing it through Wonder as it is a much more hands on approach then a normal PGCE. I was able to be in the classroom within the first week which meant that transitioning from observer to teacher was much slower allowing me to really concentrate on teaching and not having to worry about learning about all of the children and the school at the same time as preparing to teach.
