An Introduction to the Wonder Paid Internship Programme 2026

After extremely successful Internship programme over last few years, we are delighted to once again be able to offer more young people an opportunity to find out why teaching is such an inspirational career choice.

Our internship programme combines professional development, talks from external speakers, a visit to one of our primary schools, planning a trip and of course an opportunity to teach our pupils. You receive dedicated mentorship, support, and training over the three-week period and in your final week, you can choose to teach your very first lesson. It is simply a privilege to see our interns flourish and utterly amazing to see them stand in front of their first class after just three weeks.

Payments for the Wonder Paid Internship Programme

In addition to all the great opportunities you will receive during this three-week programme, you will also receive a payment (funded by the Department of Education) of £91.00 for every day completed, so if you do complete all 15 days of the experience you will be paid £1,365.00 for your participation.

Eligibility for the Wonder Paid Internship Programme

To be eligible to apply for our Wonder PAID Internship Programme you need to:

• have a genuine interest in becoming a teacher
• be an undergraduate in their second, third or final year, or a master’s student (this includes students undertaking a 4-year integrated master’s, industry year or part time course)
• be interested in teaching chemistry, design and technology, mathematics, a foreign language or physics and be studying a relevant subject
• have not taken part in any previous teaching internship programme
• have not already accepted a place on an Initial Teacher Education programme

To try and accommodate as many applicants as possible we have two recruitment internships running this year at:

• Woldgate School (Pocklington)
• Longcroft School (Beverley)
• Whitby School (Whitby)

Cycle 1: 8th June 2026 to 26th June 2026

Cycle 2: 22nd June 2026 to 10th July 2026

Interviews will take place within two weeks of receiving your application. Please remember we have limited numbers, so please do not leave your application too late.
