New Technology for our Schools

New Technology for our Schools

Improving Technology Access

The Big Conversation Technology Project Group’s work has led to some exciting changes since the start of the academic year. Technology available to colleagues, pupils and our parent community has improved significantly.

New Flip Laptops, PCs, Chrome Books and Interactive Whiteboards

In addition to improved connectivity at our primaries, admin colleagues have new desktop PCs while Teacher PCs have been removed from classrooms and all teachers provided with a flip laptop, giving them more flexibility in where and when they use the devices and removing messy cables and bulky equipment.

Pupils in our primary schools now have access to brand new Chromebooks along with storage trolleys which also act as charging stations, keeping the devices safely stored and ready for use. At Woldgate School, over 400 new laptops and desktops have also been made available for pupils.

Interactive whiteboards are now installed in every classroom to enhance the curriculum and bring the latest technology to the forefront of teaching and learning.

New Technology Support

Support for all the new technology will be provided in the primary schools by TechN22 while IT colleagues will continue to support devices and users at Woldgate School.

In terms of software, all trust schools are now using Arbor in replacement of SIMS with feedback so far being positive.  The transition to a cloud-based MIS eliminates the risk of physical server issues while updates and patches will be automatically applied without the need for down time.
