School Council Improves Recycling
The School Council at Stamford Bridge Primary decided to take action to improve the recycling efforts in school. During a recent meeting, they pointed out that the bins in the recycling areas were looking tired and tatty, and they wanted to raise money for new and better bins. One initiative was organising a cake sale which was a huge success! Once the new bins had arrived, the children planned, designed and prepared an assembly. In delivering the assembly they reminded pupils what recycling is and why it’s so important. They then explained the new bins, the labels and gave clear instructions on what should go into each one.
The main focus was on soft recycling, as it’s something we use a lot of at school and at home, and they really pushed for everyone to make sure they are recycling it properly. It was an engaging and informative session that helped the whole school understand how important recycling is and how we can all do our part. Now that the children are educated on recycling, the School Councillors ask that parents and carers support this effort at home by encouraging good recycling habits and making sustainable choices.
