STAMFEST brings pupils, families and sport together!

Stamford Bridge Primary School is delighted to share the success of STAMFEST 2026, a full-day celebration of sport, wellbeing and community that brought together pupils, families and staff for an unforgettable day of activity and fun on Friday 3rd July.

Combining traditional sports day competitions with a wide range of sporting experiences, the event was created to give every child from Nursery to Year 6 the opportunity to participate, compete and discover new activities.

Throughout the day, families gathered to cheer on their children, creating an atmosphere of encouragement, determination and healthy competition as they took part in traditional events such as running and the egg and spoon race in addition to a carousel of activities led by staff and external partners.

Children enjoyed football coaching sessions delivered by York City Football Club, tennis coaching, dance workshops, taekwondo sessions, parachute games and storytelling activities designed to promote both physical activity and enjoyment.

A highlight of the day was the Family Picnic, which saw parents, carers and relatives join pupils for lunch on the school field. The picnic provided a valuable opportunity for families to spend time together, connect with the wider school community and celebrate the achievements of the children, made all the more special by Professor Dan who shared his magic with children and families.

Throughout the day, STAMFEST embodied the school’s values and commitment to promoting physical wellbeing, participation and community engagement. Every child was encouraged to take part, challenge themselves and celebrate both individual achievement and collective success.

Nicola Massey, Headteacher, commented, “STAMFEST has been a fantastic example of what makes our school community so special. It was wonderful to see children of all ages participating with such enthusiasm, whether competing in races, learning new sporting skills or enjoying time with their families. The support from parents, staff and our external partners helped create a memorable day that truly celebrated teamwork, wellbeing and community spirit.”

The school would like to extend its thanks to all staff, volunteers, families, the school PACT team and activity providers who contributed to making the event such a success.
