Melbourne is a friendly village school, catering for children aged between 4 and 11, situated in the Parish of Melbourne in the East Riding of Yorkshire. There are approximately 200 pupils on roll, with the majority of pupils coming from the villages of Melbourne, Everingham, Bielby and Thornton. We also currently have pupils from East Cottingwith, Pocklington, Ellerton, Market Weighton and beyond. Our school is set in extensive, attractive grounds that provide our children a wonderful place to not only play but learn about the world around them.

We encourage our children to become confident life-long, learners and to achieve high standards in everything they do. Children who leave Melbourne are well rounded, motivated, knowledgeable, independent individuals prepared for an exciting future on their educational journey.

Training School Administrator

SCP 6 £21,968  (pro rata for term time working) 

37 hours per week, term time plus 5 days – Monday to Friday – Fixed term until 31st August 2024

Required for September 2023, a committed and enthusiastic administrator to support the work of the Institute of Education.

The Institute of Education (part of the Wonder Learning Partnership) is a supportive and innovative place to work. We are growing our training school and therefore seeking to appoint an administrator to join us on this exciting and rewarding journey.

Working under the direction and guidance of the Assistant Director of Institute of Education, you will be responsible for the administration and management of course bookings, reprographics and supporting the wider administration of the Institute of Education team. You will be flexible, approachable and have excellent communication skills as you liaise with colleagues across the region to ensure training runs smoothly and successfully, whilst ensuring you promote and uphold the values of the Trust in all you do.

The successful candidate will work as part of a busy but welcoming team at one of our primary schools. However, travel to training venues is a requirement of the role and so the ability to drive is essential.

School Direct Initial Teacher Training Recruitment for September 2023

The Wonder Institute of Education is delighted to be able to offer school direct ITT teacher training placements for September 2023. These placements are for graduates or final year university students to apply for an opportunity to pursue a career in teaching. We currently have vacancies in the following areas:

Secondary

  • Mathematics
  • English
  • Physical Education
  • History
  • Science

By choosing to study with the Wonder Institute of Education, you will be placed in two secondary schools, Woldgate School and Sixth Form in Pocklington and Longcroft School in Beverley.

Primary

  • Primary Education 3 – 7 years
  • Primary Education 5 -11 years

By choosing to study with the Wonder Institute of Education, you will be placed in two primary schools from our three Trust primaries, which includes Melbourne Primary School, Pocklington Juniors School or Stamford Bridge Primary School. The course displayed on the government application site, simply states Primary but we clarify which route you wish to take during the interview process

Both the secondary and the primary courses are run in collaboration with our partner provider which is Leeds Beckett University.

Governor Vacancies at Melbourne Primary School

Melbourne Primary School is part of the Wolds Learning Partnership. The Local Governing Committee at Melbourne Primary School has Governor vacancies – at this time we are not looking to recruit parent governors as all parent governor vacancies are full.

Governors play a key role in the school. Working as a team to provide support and challenge and influencing strategies.  We are hoping that members of the community will nominate themselves or others and help us by contributing ideas and influencing decision making.

Outlines of procedures for nominations are set out below but please feel free to contact Mr Morrison directly to talk informally about being a School Governor. The Local Governing Body is made up of parents, teachers and other members of the community.  Twice per term the Governing Body meets to support the work of the school, and together with the Headteacher is responsible for making sure that the school provides a good standard of education for pupils.
